Vocational Training

We provide skill based training, of two types, as part of our vocational training activity: Tailoring classes and Computer classes.

Tailoring classes:
For a nominal fee, about 20 women and teenage girls, every year, receive full-fledged training in tailoring and stitching services. The tailoring classes have provided the women in the slum a good alternative livelihood. Income from tailoring - blouse stitching, fall-making, etc., helps them by supplementing their meager family income.

Computer Classes:
In the second quarter of 2008, we have begun training our teachers and clinic staff in computers and through them we train all the eligible girls, boys, and children in the slum and women and, thus work towards reducing digital divide in our society.

In Feb 2010, we started full-fledged computer classes for young boys and girls to help them procure jobs as office clerks, computer operators, DTP work, account clerks, POS staff, etc. The classes are run by the Vedanta Foundation, Mumbai.
